Step Up To The Plate

He steps up to the plate with his prepared hands,

shuffles his feet in the dirt, which feels like soft, silky sand,

straight and tall, his back not crooked, he stands.

His hands rippling with sweat, he looks up at the sky,

the pitcher throws the ball fast towards his eyes,

lets out an enormous swing and then hits a home run, he sighs.
